bird Feeds

Feeding Tips

  • Feed all year round to ensure nutritional requirements are fulfilled whilst breeding and nesting
  • Feed regularly, as once you start, birds quickly become dependant on you
  • In severe weather feed twice daily morning and early afternoon
  • Food should be available first thing in the morning as this is when birds replace energy used overnight, particularly in cold weather
  • Have several feeding sites around the garden, to prevent overcrowding
  • Feeders should be in open spaces, so predators can be seen easily
  • To attract a wide variety of birds, provide a range of feeders and feeds, asdifferent birds prefer different feeds and have different feeding habits
  • Ensure fresh clean water for both drinking and bathing is always available
  • Sunflower Seed, Black Sunflower Move and clean feeders and water baths regularly
  • During Autumn and Winter ensure high energy feeds are available e.g. peanuts and fat balls in addition to a seed mixture
  • During Spring and Summer ensure high protein feeds are available e.g. sunflower hearts in addition to a seed mixture
  • Where seed mixture is mentioned in the above table, either wild bird seed mixture or premium wild bird seed mixture can be fed, however the premium will attract more species and more colourful birds e.g. finches and tits
  • Once product is opened please store in an airtight container to maintain freshness
  • No products in this range are suitable for human consumption
